ok guys! here it is! day in the life conchords post!!

April 10th, 2009

and epic day where my state was torn apart by crazy tornados and I got to touch Jemaine Clement.

that picture was taken by caitlin! she had better seats (and a better camera) than me.

oh, and if you are in day in the life as well, this post has more pics, and more, uh, commentary?

i wake up because there is a little cat foot touching my face.

that's as good a time as any to wake up.

i didn't get out of bed for another twenty minutes though, because little Murray Hewitt was being cute.

my husband Travis is already up for once, because he is going to try and do some yard work before it rains. then he reminds me what today is...

IT'S FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS DAY!!! The day i've been anticipating for months!

i immediately send off a million texts to everyone who is going with me tonight. Finalizing plans.

I hop in the shower...

blow dried my crazy frizzy hair.

then my husband straightened it for me. what a sweetie. it looks much better now.

I hope into the kitchen for some breakfast. but first I have to do a pile of dishes. I am obsessed with those crispy bars. delicious.

i check the weather. hmmm, that doesn't look good.

get online and check the regular things. change my facebook status so it reflects how monumental this day will be.

i waste a lot of time looking for people who graduated the same year i did and laughing at how dumb they are. that is my favorite part of facebook. anyone else do that?

Travis' cat randomly decides to be affectionate and lays on me.

i started finding album art for my itunes, then i realized i was wasting the whole day for no reason! ah! must escape the clutches of the computer!

I peek out the door to see what the husband is up too. pressure washing the back porch. how exciting!

i put on some music to inspire me. ahhh, perfect.

i decide what pictures to take with me in case we can get autographs. it was very hard to decide.

when i worked at whole foods one of the guys in marketing did caricatures of each of us and we could put these things by our registers with our favorite products. I took my home and like to update it all the time. i had to make it themed for today.

I put our tickets into my purse so I don't forget them later. because that would be a disaster.

i decide to do something actually productive and start working on the cake I'm making for Easter sunday. I can make the filling, lemon curd, in advance.

i get out the ingredients. 16 eggs!! dang!

husband comes in to tell me to come out into the yard to see the storm damage we got the night before.

wtf? where did the tree's bark go? so weird.

as i am walking back into the house i think that the sky is looking kind of ominous.

then all of a sudden it starts pouring and hailing with tons of thunder. kind of scary. i was texting people like crazy worried about the show getting cancelled, and the fact that they probably wouldn't do a meet and greet if it was pouring. i was being really over dramatic of course.

my dad calls and tells me to turn on the radio. there are tornados all over the mid state area. tons of houses got destroyed and people died. thankfully we missed out on the big damage. but it was scary for a while.

the cats are scared and hang out by travis while he looks for news on the storms.

the curd is done! yum! you have to put the plastic wrap right on it so it doesn't develop a crust. doesn't that sound delicious?

but dang now the sink is full again.

i go outside to see that the sun is back out and it's like nothing happened. weird.

i make a little lunch. it was pretty tasty.

we watch schiendler's list. and get nice and sad.

time check! i've wasted so much time! now i've got to get dressed!

Dana is here! she is riding with me to Nashville. hooray! she is the one who made me watch flight of the conchords for the first time. and changed my life. haha.

travis wants me to take a picture of his arm. he is getting a tattoo while I'm at the show.

on the road!

we stop at whole foods to pick up brittany.

now we're in nashville! so excited!

stopping for dinner. they charge you extra for lettuce and cheese on a taco?? wtf? isn't that what COMES on a taco? lame.

the other people in our group meet us at SATCO. Marissa, Kyle, and Caitlin.

we get to the venue, the Ryman Auditorium. It used to be a church, and is really famous in the history of country music. its my favorite venue in nashville.

waiting in line to get in. we don't have to wait long actually. first we run upstairs to get merchandise. I got:

a sheet of magnets, a cute letterpress poster, and two shirts, that I didn't take a picture of. adorable.

then it was time for the show! some of these are off of flickr. i couldn't get good ones with my camera. because it kind of sucks.

Kristen Schaal (Mel on the show) opened. she was so flippin' hilarious. That is her performing as an old mattress.

needless to say, the show was amazing. even better and more hilarious than i expected. they opened with two many dicks on the dance floor. some idiot yelled something and jemaine thought he said "shoot my boot" so they went off on this hilarious tanget where they were doing country accents. ADORABLE. here are songs i remember they played:

they pretended they were going to share the word of jesus with us. hilarious! bret was like "security, lock the doors. the only way you guys are getting out of here is up."

another part i remember is bret telling a story about taking a cab in nashville and he was like "jemaine wasn't there..." and jemaine was like "why wasn't i invited" and then he started singing "hurt feelings", and cracked himself up. adorable.

here we all are afterwards. i was trying to take a picture to show that we had our own pew that was the perfect size for the six of us. there was a tiny pew behind us big enough for only two people. i hope they knew each other.

we stand outside in the cold rain waiting for the guys to come out. my hair started getting huge! awesome!

we stood in this alley next to the stage door for about two hours. see the pig sign? my dress smelled like bar b que the next morning! hahah.

then they finally came out! omg!!

jemaine is my biggest ever celeb crush so i was THRILLED. as if you couldn't tell by my face. hahah. dana helped me get his attention because people were being annoyingly pushy. someone asked him to say "foolish suckah!" and he did. when i asked him to sign my picture he was all 'of course! you know that is a fake signature right" and then when i thanked him he looked right into my eyes and said "you are VERY welcome." in that sweet monotone voice. heart...melted...so perfect.....

marissa took this one. this is what she captioned it on facebook. "Deja vu. This is totally my view in Rae's wedding and Jemaine is looking at her the same way Travis did! cute!" hahaha. i love it!!
