I knew yesterday was going to awesome. so i did a day in the life thing for it. Marissa and I went to Hotlanta for IKEA and Weezer. and it was great.

woke up at 8. travis had left for work three hours ago. eight is usually my favorite time to get up. but i didn't get into bed until 2 am last night and i felt like i'd been hit by a truck.

i thought about sleeping in a little more but figured i probably wouldn't be able to fall back asleep.

i head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and give my kitten Murray Hewitt some snuggles. He isn't allowed to sleep in our room anymore so he is always hangs all over me in the morning.

i check to see if my shirt is dry. I painted it yesterday. I'm mostly over making homemade shirts for shows but weezer is my favorite and still gets me excited like they did in high school. I could try and explain how much I love that band, but i think a picture would illustrate it better...

see, i'm crazy. I don't even know why. I just really love them. We bought these tickets months ago and it feels like i've been waiting forever!

i try and pick some shoes that will good for driving and walking, dancing. I've been wearing converse almost exclusively for years now, so shoes with arch support are uncomfortable. I'm so scared my arches are going to fall or something. can that happen? i dunno. this pair if currently my favorite.

murray reminds me not to forget my cell phone.

i pack the cooler. i don't know why i brought so much. it was just two of us, for one day. also, there are no windows in my kitchen so the lighting is really horrible.

i do a little hair straightening and then i'm ready to go.

check the directions one last time. i always get really nervous driving to somewhere new.

why did i pack stuff? i don't know if i thought we were going to end up staying a few days or what.

timecheck. i'm supposed to pick marissa up at nine.

i stop to fill up my tank and get a little breakfast. i was going to get something healthy, but i ended up with donut holes. that i was going to share. but they were really good so i scarfed them down in 5 seconds flat.

i go to the atm and get cash in case we have to pay to park, and if i want to buy a shirt. i didn't though because they were charging 35 bucks for a tshirt? wtf weezer.

i call marissa because i can't find her new apartment and she hasn't even gotten out of bed yet and for some reason won't let me come over. so i have some time to kill.

i decide to go into the store near me. I'd never been in and had no idea what they sold. my findings:

sparkly obama and mccain shirts for four dollars. really cheap jeans. weird huge piles of cleaning supplies.

then something i actually want! i have a karaoke machine, and it's very fun, but i hate buying the cds because they are usually 16 dollars for some reason. these were only five! yes! then marissa called me and said she was ready so i didn't have time to explore the store further.

hey! she brings some apple bread that we forgot to eat.

i didn't bring any drink with caffeine so she wants to stop and get a big coke. so we stop at the mcdonald's by the interstate.

and i can't resist a sausage biscuit. i don't know why. those patties don't look like any other sausage you buy, but there is something about eating a mcdonald's sausage biscuit before a road trip that is nice.

it's a really nice day. marissa starts to work on her shirt.

we stop at a rest stop. we are driving through some moutainish things and this one is at the top. we saw a really cute really tiny dog. i should have taken a picture.

i love driving down the other side. except the runaway truck ramps are so scary.

she's finished! we are obsessed with this song off their new album and are really hoping they play it tonight! (spoiler alert! they do! it's epic!)

hours later we get into atlanta. the wide interstates intimidate me a little. eight lanes seems crazy.

our first stop is sighted! she just moved and i'm about to move, so we really need some housewares. I wonder if we are going to get an ikea in nashville. i don't know if i want them too. I like making a day of it.

timecheck. we're now in the eastern time zone, we live in central. so it took us about 3 hours.

excited!

first we eat lunch. mine was really delicious. the little piece of toast was my favorite part. it was only 29 cents. i wish i had gone back for more.

we shopped forever. we need a new couch. i like this one alot. but it might be too much. we'll see. i'm coming back with my husband soon to make some big purchases.

my cart is getting full!

i love these little bearded men. of course i had to buy some. now i have to think of a use for them.

i also really love these jelly rats. i've got travis hooked and he wants to buy a bunch more next time we go.

done! we were pretty tired after walking around in there for so long.

back on the highway and too the arena. i don't go to many shows at big places like this anymore so i'm always surprised at big signs leading your way, and people showing you where to park.

first we eat some mexican food. it was incredibly good. i got chicken nachos and i don't know what they seasoned the chicken with but it was amazing. our waiter was really nice and there was a mariachi band in orange suits playing!

we fill up my car again and marissa gets some coffee. I guess it was all the interstate driving but somehow on the way down my car was getting 38 miles to gallon. awesome.

timecheck before we go in! they had no camera signs posted EVERYWHERE so i was a little apprehensive about getting mine out for something like a picture of the drink i had or us waiting. we had general admission floor seats so we got up to the front as soon as we could. Angels and Airwaves opened. I didn't know any of their songs but Marissa really loves them so that was exciting. we were both really really into blink 182 in highschool so it was exciting to see Tom Delonge. He had this weird thing on his head for one song that sent green lazer beams to the back of the arena. it was so dorky/cute.

then weezer came out!! it became apparent that the security gaurds didn't care about the camera rules so i got mine out.

rivers wore this thing for the first few songs. haha. what a weirdo.

then they had on matching tracksuits. I was worried about being dissapointed with this tour. now i can't remember why that was. it was incredible! they looked like they were having so much fun. This is the fourth time I've seen them,and Rivers is usually distant and doesn't do much with the audience but last night he was really giving us exactly what we wanted. lots of sing alongs and he was doings this weird flappy arms old man dance. pat, brian, and scott all sang and they switched instruments a lot. karll came out and played keyboards at one point. there was a basoon solo. rivers wore that dumb cowboy hat for a song, scott has a boxing robe with a flying =w= on the back.

THEN tom DeLonge came out and sang Undone with them. That is when my camera died, but it was also when all my teenage dreams came true. It was the last night of the tour and Rivers was talking about getting pranked and Tom dropped his pants. Marissa had been swept away by the crowd at that point and I'm a little sad we didn't get to scream about it together.

so really, it was perfect. the energy was really great. the setlist was great, they played for almost two hours. my voice is almost gone today. travis keeps making fun of all my squeaks. haha.

happy back in the car! but now i've got to drive us home! blech!

i stop at a rest stop and am glad i brought that change of clothes. it was nice to get out of stinky sweaty things.

i eat some more crap. i get zingers, those little twinkee things. yum. the second place is a few hours later. i stop to get some caffiene.

we love the big neon lights. marissa was sleeping and i was trying to keep alert listening to music and keeping the air on, but it wasn't working that well. in the end marissa stayed up and talked to me, which helped a lot.

i dropped her off!

home!

i decide i have to take a shower before i go to sleep. it felt really good.

final time check! i'm not going to take one of those fake I'm asleep pictures like i usually do because travis was already asleep and i didn't want to turn the light on.

Oh man, your lunch at Ikea and those nachos look so good. The breaded/fried thing seriously makes me want to go put some mozzerella sticks in the oven. Your posts always make me so hungry--even when I've just eaten, lol. And I love the picture of your cat reminding you to take your phone, haha.

Pizza is basically the best food ever. Possibly tied with chicken tenders with ranch and honey mustard on the side.

awww this was a great post! I'm glad you had tons O' fun. I had heard that there were plans to build an Ikea in the Green Hills area but don't really know if that's true. I've never actually been to one! sadness.

I love the one of Murray's paws :D and all that food looks delish! It looks like you guys had a pretty good location for the show! I always think it's so silly when places won't let you take picture for concerts so I'm glad you got to take some pics.

i don't know how they could build on in green hills. they aer so huge and there isn't a lot of space up there. hmm. you should plan a trip to the one in atlanta if you move. it's SO FUN. whenever we go down for the aquarium or the zoo we go to ikea too. it's like a theme park destination. haha.

IKEA surprisingly has really good food, especially their Swedish meatballs. Mmm.
I'm jealous that you got to see Weezer. I would have driven up there, but there was just no way. Strange that Angels & Airwaves opened for them though. I would have thought they would have a band that was kind of like Weezer with them.

i did not sleep in on purpose! we got home so late from the features and my alarm was set wrong, so there's no way i would have woke up.. also srry about saying not to come over, i just thought you'd be bored since i have no tv, chairs, or food.

ps it was so scary seeing my apt unlocked when i got home!!

AND my hot water still didn't work so i had to wait to go to kyle's the next day and shower.

BUT all my ikea stuff is so cute! i can't wait till i have furniture and a dog so you can come hang out!

FUN!

All the highways in the Phoenix area are that big. I'm so used to it that when I'm on smaller ones I get scared because there isn't as much room to maneuver around people and jump out of the way if you need to.

IKEA is so addicting.
