My computer memory is getting full again and while looking for stuff to delete i stumbled upon a day in the life i did last october, and never posted. so here it is. i lived in a different place with a different job (had two at the time). so yeah, kinda irrelevant, but it shouldn't go to waste! lets see if i can remember what was going on.
oh, also, i have caught up on my guilty pleasure, american idol. my favorite is adam lambert. so sassy and cute! travis' parents hate him of course cuz he is gay. but he's so flippin' amazing!

This is my fourth post to dayinthelife. First three can be found here and here and here.

This is my Sunday, July 13th. I went with my husband and some friends to Burgess Falls. It's a state park about an hour and a half from our home. It was beautiful.

This year I am doing the 100 new books in a year thing again. but I am going to keep a list of the books, along with how much i liked them and other stuff. i think i'm going to post about the ones i really like here, since i know some of you are doing book challenges, and I have read some really great stuff so far this year. so here are some of the first ones...
1. St Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves by Karen Russel Genre: short stories Rating: ***** I LOVED this book. The review i read of it in BUST magazine said it was a collection of modern fairy tales and I think that is pretty accurate. There were maybe two stories that were just alright, but the rest were fantastic. My favorite was probably the title story, about a convent of nuns who rehabilitate girls who have been raised by wolves. my only complaint is that the stories weren't longer, they were so good i didn't want them to end. 100 books in 2006!
i didn't quite make it. but i gave it the old college try...or something
1. I have Chosen to Stay and Fight by Margaret Cho (NonFiction: loved this. obviously. mostly essays. mostly brilliant) 2. Superstud by Paul Feig (Memoir:the creator of Freaks and Geeks. Hilarious. I read it again during the summer) 3. Post Secret (You should know what this is) 4. Francine Rivers - A Voice in the Wind ('Christian' Fiction: couldn't put this down. some of the themes were dissapointing but i got addicted) 5. Francine Rivers - An Echo in the Darkness ('Christian' Fiction:great again. summed up the plot i cared about so i didn't read the third) 6. Goddesses and Monsters: Women, Myth, Power and Popular Culture by Jane Caputi (NonFiction: Covered tons of topics. I liked the chapter about serial killers the best) 7. Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers: A History of Lesbian Love in the 21st Century by Lillian Fadermen (NonFiction: A little bit dry, but very interesting) 8. Reel to Real: Race, Sex, and Class at the Movies by bell hooks (NonFiction: bell hooks is an amazing woman, this was a great book) 9. Naked be David Sedaris (memoir: you probably know all about him. great) ( more ) |
